Hot Tub Care Guide

HOT TUB CARE GUIDE

Hot Tub Rules

  • Please do not use the hot tub during pregnancy.
  • Anyone that has suffered from a stomach virus within the last 7 days should not use the hot tub, as this can spread infection.
  • Anyone with an infection, open sore or wound should not use the hot tub.
  • If you suffer from heart disease, diabetes, low or high blood pressure, or any necessary medical condition, you should consult your Doctor before use.
  • Hot tubs are not suitable for children under the age of five. Children must be tall enough to stand with their feet on the floor and their head out of the water (usually age 5+) to use the hot tub. Any children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times, in order to prevent any risk of drowning.
  • Please do not use the hot tub while under the use of certain medications, drugs or excessive alcohol. Particularly those medications that can cause drowsiness and a low or high blood pressure.
  • Please do shower before and after using the hot tub.
  • Do not immerse your head in the hot tub water.
  • When the hot tub is not in use, please do ensure that the insulated cover is on. This is not only to maintain the heat in the tub, but to keep children and pets safe from the risk of drowning.
  • Please do not, under any circumstances, let animals in the hot tub.
  • Do not use glass near or inside the hot tub.
  • Do not use any electrical appliances near or inside the hot tub. This is highly dangerous and poses a huge risk to your safety.
  • If anyone suffers from an allergic reaction, please do leave the hot tub immediately and rinse your skin with warm water in the shower. If the problem persists you should promptly consult your Doctor.
  • Please ensure that there are no contaminants in the water ie - bubble bath, alcohol, oils or any other substances. This can interfere with the chemical balance in the water, and result in allergic reactions.
  • Please do not smoke in or near the hot tub – this could cause damage.

USER GUIDE

  • Some of our models have an automatic lock system on the keypad. When this is activated, the padlock button will light up green. To unlock the keypad for use, hold your finger on the button until you hear a beep and the light turns off. The keypad is now unlocked for you to use.

  • The LED display shows the current water temperature as standard.

  • The heat button, displayed as a flame, must be on at all times to keep the hot tub at your desired temperature. The flame will display as red when heating up to the desired temperature, and green once maintained at that temperature.

  • The filter light should also be on at all times.

  • Use the bubble button to activate and de-activate the massage system, which has a 30 minute auto-shutoff feature. The bubble button displays green when activated. Please do not run the bubble system when the cover is attached, air can accumulate inside the spa and cause irreparable damage and bodily harm.

  • Pressing the arrow buttons increases or decreases the desired temperature. The new desired temperature will remain on the screen for 5 seconds.

MAINTAINING CLEAN WATER

Care Tips

  • After using the hot tub, please place the chemical dispenser (containing the chlorine tablet provided) into the spa water to maintain sanitisation. These are slow dissolving tablets that usually last between 2-3 days. Once dissolved, please replace with a new tablet and continue to keep it in the water at all times the spa is not in use.
  • If the water begins to look cloudy then please remove the chemical dispenser and instead add a shock of chlorine granules directly into the spa water– 1 tablespoon each day until the water is clear.
  • If a foam begins to circulate in your spa, then please add 1 capful/squirt of the FOAM AWAY product into the hot tub after use.

Testing your water

The water should be tested at least once every two days. After testing, if chemicals are required in the hot tub, then please do not use the spa for at least 2 hours after the chemicals have been added. We recommend it is best to carry out any testing and chemical adjustments in the evenings – so that the spa water can be left overnight.

To test the water:

1.     Remove a test strip from the foil, dip the entire strip into the water and then remove immediately.

2.    Hold the test strip level for 15 seconds. Do not shake off any excess water from the strip.

3.    Compare the strip pad to the colour chart on the packaging label. If necessary, adjust the chemical level in the pool           water following the below instructions.

Adjusting chemical levels in your spa

The ideal readings for your spa are as follows:

PH Level – between 7.2 – 7.6

Alkalinity – between 80 – 120 ppm

Chlorine – between 3 – 5 ppm

Calcium Hardness – between 100 - 250ppm

The ideal PH level is 7.2 – 7.6

  • If the colour chart shows the PH as 7.6 or higher, then PH MINUS (PH-) needs to be added. Add 2 teaspoons to the spa and turn on the bubbles for 5 minutes.  Retest your spa and repeat dosage if needed until your reading is between 7.2 – 7.6.

  • If the colour chart shows the PH as 7.2 or lower, then PH PLUS (PH+) needs to be added. Add 2 teaspoons to the spa and turn on the bubbles for 5 minutes. Retest your spa and repeat dosage if needed until your reading is between 7.2 – 7.6.

The ideal chlorine level is 3 - 5ppm

  • If the colour chart shows that the chlorine level is higher than 5, then you do not need to do anything to the water, as the levels will naturally decrease. To speed up the process turn on the bubble mode and let the jets run for an hour or so with the cover off. This will help reduce the levels.
  • If the colour chart shows that the chlorine is lower than 3 ppm, then you will need to add 1 tablespoon of the chlorine granules and turn on the bubbles for 5 minutes.

After adding chemicals to the water, it is best to turn on the jets for around 5 minutes to circulate the water. Then re-test to check levels, and adjust where necessary. DO NOT USE THE SPA FOR 1 HOUR AFTER ADDING ANY CHEMINCALS.

It is important to maintain the levels of PH, alkalinity and chlorine in your water to maintain a safe, pleasurable and hygienic experience with your hot tub. Failing to maintain your water quality can lead to skin conditions and infections.

Here are a few tips that will help to keep your water quality at its best;

1.     Shower before you get in. Always shower before using your inflatable hot tub. This is important, as the shower washes         off your natural body oils, which will otherwise be washed off by the water in your inflatable hot tub. The shower will             remove any chemicals on your body, such as deodorant, aftershave, perfume, and make up.

2.     Make sure children use the bathroom before they get in.

3.     Keep the lid on when you are not using the hot tub.

4.     Keep all foreign objects out of the water – particularly food and drink, detergents, lotions and oils.

5.     Follow instructions provided to maintain your water balance.

Error Codes

If there are any faults with the system then a beeping sound will occur, and an error code displayed as ‘E___’ will show on the display. Here are a list of the error codes:

E94 – Water temperature too low

1. If the ambient temperature is below 4 degrees celsius then we do not recommend using the spa

2. Turn off and unplug the control unit, add some warm water to raise the spa water temperature above 5 degrees celsius, then press the flame button to heat the water to the desired temperature

E95 – Water temperature too high

1. Turn off and unplug the control. When the water has cooled down, turn the power back on, press ‘reset’ on the RCD, and then power on the keypad with the on/off button (hold your finger on the button for a few seconds).

2. Leave the heater button off, but power on the filter and bubble buttons to lower the water temperature.
